Put some dash into your downtime!

If you’re keen to catch the upcoming film comedy ‘Song for Marion’, starring Vanessa Redgrave and Terence Stamp, about a grumpy pensioner who embarks on a life-affirming journey of musical self-discovery after joining a local choir, ‘Warner Pop Choir’ will be right up your street! At Warner we are all about adding something a little bit different to each of your days, from trying something new to fun activities with a twist; we want to add a little dash to your downtime.

“I have to be doing something. That’s what’s good about here.”

After their visit to Alvaston Hall in Cheshire, Jane and Pete Batson told us that one of the things they love about staying at one of our properties is having fun and trying something exciting for the very first time. By no means are they alone. Our guests love that they can relax in beautiful surroundings, enjoy sumptuous meals and romantic walks through our lovingly tended gardens, but also the fact that they can put some flair in their downtime when they’re in the mood.

There’s always plenty going on, whether you’re staying with us during a summer break or for a long weekend. To help returning guests and new friends make the most of their visits in 2013, we’ve come up with a few ideas involving activities that you might not have tried before. Remember, you don’t need any experience, just be keen to enjoy yourself!

Warner Pop Choir

If you’re into your music then you’ll absolutely love the ‘Warner Pop Choir’ workshops. Standing up and releasing your inner diva might seem a bit of a daunting thought, but we guarantee  that if you love music, you’ll have a whale of a time joining in and belting out everything from worldwide pop hits from the likes of ABBA through to Motown gems and rock classics.

Some guests come to us to spend a romantic few days with a loved one, and what better way to play Cupid than by finding out if you’re a hot shot with a bow in your hand. Pass through the famous elephant shaped hedge at Holme Lacy House and visit our archery area where you can have a practice at firing! We’ve got archery facilities available at a number of properties including Littlecote House Hotel in Berkshire and Sinah Warren Hotel in Hampshire. It’s great fun, and we’ll supply you with all the equipment you’ll need, from a bow and arrows to a brace to protect your arm, along with expert guidance. Now all you need to do is aim and hopefully hit the board somewhere near the middle!

Whether you are a competitive bowler with your eye on the prize, or are just taking your first steps in the world of bowls we will have you feeling like a pro by the end of your stay. You can check out our bowling blog post for details of what to expect, but take our word for it – it’s a sport that’s ideal for complete novices as well as seasoned players. We’ve got indoor bowls greens at Bodelwyddan Castle Hotel in North Wales, as well as at our coastal resorts of Gunton Hall, Lakeside and Bembridge Coast. Why not try something a little different on your next break?

Nordic walking

For a fun alternative to taking a light stroll, consider Nordic walking. It’s a great activity that’s offered at many of our sites around the country and not only will you really help to improve your fitness and build upper body strength; you’ll have plenty of fun in the fresh air. The activity uses poles for support but the technique differs from hill walking or trekking with poles. Our friendly NWUK-qualified instructors will show you exactly what to do. Our hotels are set in some amazing locations and guests just love exploring the grounds and local areas.

Here at Warner we’re always looking for new ways to entertain you, so come along to enjoy one of our hotel breaks and see what’s new. Everyone comes to have a good time – well isn’t that what holidays are about?
