No need to have a holiday from your diet during a break with Warner!

When you’re gritting your teeth and stoically trying to avoid ordering the hot chocolate fudge pudding, there’s nothing worse than being confronted with a menu that’s jam-packed with unhealthy choices threatening to blow your diet out of the water. In fact, it’s just as bad being faced with a selection that features salad as the most exciting option. (Not that there’s anything wrong with a tasty salad of course!)

It’s true that catering for a wide range of tastes and diets is a tricky business, which is why our award-winning chefs put such emphasis on creating menus that will appeal to everyone. Our aim is to make your eyes light up whether you’re calorie counting and want a delicious meal that won’t see you pile on the pounds, or are quite happy to treat yourself to something a little indulgent.

Avocado Mouse and Salad

If you’re following a weight loss programme such as Slimming World, which isn’t focused on telling you what you can and can’t eat, you’ll find plenty of great dishes to choose from. Our catering teams create mouth-watering starters, main meals and deserts that taste fabulous and are made from the freshest ingredients. And you can count on finding plenty of options that won’t leave you feeling guilty if you’re trying to lose weight.

We all know breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so why not set yourself up with some delicious, healthy options from the breakfast bar. How about a rasher or two of bacon (with any fat removed of course!) alongside some juicy grilled tomatoes and beans. Our chefs will be more than happy to knock up a freshly poached egg on demand too. Want something lighter than a cooked breakfast? You’ll always find a pot of steaming porridge and plenty of fresh fruit on offer.

Delicious salads There’s always a fish dish available every evening, which is great for anyone sticking to a diet. White fish such as haddock and plaice is usually very low in fat, making it a great alternative to red meat. It’s also important to have enough oily fish in your diet. Salmon and trout are good examples – they are rich in long-chain omega-3 fatty acids as well as being a good source of vitamins A and D. If you do fancy meat though, there’ll always be a lean meat option available at the carvery, and if you’d rather have boiled potatoes rather than roasties, just ask!

With weight loss plans like Slimming World, no foods are forbidden and don’t forget the ‘Free Foods’ where there’s no limit to how much you can have. Our thinking is that fresh fruit and vegetables are good for everyone, regardless of whether you’re trying to lose weight. That’s why when you’re enjoying a short break with us, you can go up as many times as you like to top-up on super-free veg from asparagus and beetroot to runner beans and mushrooms.

Book 2013 summer breaks at Warner Leisure Hotels and you soon find yourself taking a seat in The Terrace Restaurant at Nidd Hall in North Yorkshire to enjoy a smoked salmon, shallot and caper starter followed by organic corn fed chicken with chestnut stuffing. Book one of our weekend breaks at Sinah Warren Hotel in Hampshire and you could soon be sampling the freshest honeydew melon at the recently-redecorated Driftwood Restaurant, followed by a delicious vegetable cobbler and fresh fruit salad to finish.
