Ready, Steady, Bake! Warner Masterclass September

Have you got caught up in the hype of this year’s Great British Bake Off series? So far we’ve had everything from macaroons and English muffins to bread sticks and custard tarts – and there’s plenty more baking to be done yet! In the fourth episode, Frances plumped for a peach and frangipane pie and this month’s Warner Masterclass video follows a similar theme.

Jason Howitt, the head chef over at Gunton Hall Coastal Village, has put together an in-depth video demonstration for our YouTube channel showing you how to make a real show-stopper of a dessert – almond frangipane tart served with blackberry and lavender ice cream. Not only does this pudding look incredible on the plate, the texture of the blackberry ice cream perfectly complements the crispy pastry.

During this brand new Warner Masterclass, Jason will take you through each step of creating a fruit coulis and turning it into a smooth and silky ice cream. He’ll show you how to roll out the perfect shortcrust pastry and make sure your tart doesn’t overflow while it is in the oven, avoiding of course the notorious soggy bottom that all bakers fear! The video also contains plenty of presentation tips to make sure your tart gets all the praise it deserves when it arrives on the dinner table!

If you’re looking for some ideas for main courses and starters then have a browse through some of the other online Masterclass guides from Warner’s head chefs. How about trying a lamb belly with aubergine puree recipe from Kiran Selvarjan, head chef over at Nidd Hall Hotel in North Yorkshire, or perhaps asparagus with a crispy poached egg from Thoresby Hall Hotel’s head chef, Jason Wardill.

There are plenty more Warner Masterclass sessions to come so keep checking back if you’re keen to learn how to create some of our chefs’ favourite dishes.
