As some of you might already know from one of our previous posts, this year Warner Leisure Hotels have selected the Royal British Legion as our chosen charity… for the second year running! We’ve already raised over £125,000 for this worthy cause, but there’s been no stopping some of our sportier team members recently, who’ve been braving the cold weather to raise even more cash!
Over in the East Midlands, staff at Corton and Gunton coastal villages dusted off their football boots and limbered up for the sporting event of the year (sort of) as they showed off their skills in a charity football match. Kitted out in their professional-looking T-shirts the players did themselves proud, with both team members and guests thoroughly enjoying themselves on the day.
It was a pretty close game, but Gunton were the eventual victors with the final score standing at 4-3. Even more importantly though, Gunton raised £327 and Corton managed to raise a fantastic £407, making a grand total of £734 from both teams for the Royal British Legion.
Another Corton team member who’s been limbering up for charity is Claire Fletcher. At the end of September, she ran the Robin Hood half marathon in her home town of Nottingham, a race that takes competitors around the city centre and through the grounds of the University of Nottingham.
Claire completed the race in an impressive 2 hours and 6 minutes, while raising over £1,000 for the Royal British Legion. Congratulations Claire!
We’re very proud of the fundraising efforts our team members have gone to and, of course, we greatly appreciate any donations from our guests as well.
